It's so tragic that a girl so young lost a life because of her parents refusing to accept her. As a fellow transgender, I understand her pain.
May she rest in peace.
I pray for a day when this is but a sad footnote in our history.

Just heard the sad news about Taylor Alesana's suicide. This epidemic is all the more sad because they feel the only way they can be heard is by such drastic action. While perhaps it can be a shout in a crowded room, media attention on these matters is very short and fleeting - if at all! Long term our message reaches more people - especially others who need to know they are not alone - if you keep on pushing forward, Ending one's life, ends your message, If you want to be heard, this is not the way!

Leelah, I wish someone could have been there to help you through the hurt and when people talked about the fact they loved you unconditionally; it is clear now that there were conditions on that love that should never have been placed there. You were, you are the perfect feminine spirit you dreamed of being - in our eyes. You will always be Leelah, you will never be anyone but Leelah. Rest in peace dear girl and remember God loves you and so do we..

There have been other suicides since. Why does the media not cover this? People should not have to die because they are not accepted.

Parents! Love should win out over personal bias. Encourage your children to be who they are. Each is a unique flower that you can either help bloom or prune and let it wither and die.

I feel bad for her siblings. It must be difficult in school for them.

Ok I admit it all seems a little weird to me and I do not understand it, but trying to convert someone because of that is just dumb at best, and definitely cruel. There are lots of things I don't particularly like about some people, but if it's not directed at me, it's none of my business. I see a lot of people where I live that feel they need to convert everyone to their way of thinking. It's really rude. And saddest thing is they always say it is the other way around.

Unconditional love means accepting someone for who he or she.
