I had to stop reading posts on facebook about this because some of the comments were so irritating. People just refuse to even try to understand.

Leelah, we failed you. You were a lovely little lady and yet people were jerks about you being a girl. Rest in Power, Leelah.

Dear Leelah, My name is Jeanmarie.I know what it is like to be alone.. I am a lesbian, and i get called gay and a bunch of other stuff in school, because I "came out". I came out when I was 12 and I was attacked by my classmates. While I was hit and punched and spit on.. I feel your pain. The situation was handled but I still get called names. A week later I attempted suicide. I drank bleach (it tasted terrible) and I had to go to the ER. I still cut and cry myself to sleep. My family doesn't get me. Nobody understands me. And I want justice for you. I will do anything I can to keep your memory going. I have been posting a lot about you on twitter. My twitter name Is Puss In GoGo Boots. I have followed you and retweeted a bunch of your tweets. I'm sorry this had to happen This isn't your fault. Its society's fault. I am going to try. I hope the people who did this to you. Suffer and Hate themselves, for what they did. They will have to live with this FOREVER. Its okay. Your safe now. -Jeanmarie

How sad this is no longer being discussed on the news. Seems they have more important things to talk about like partially deflated footballs. Worse, that is getting MORE coverage. Our priorities are not in order.

As we mourn the loss of someone so young, please remember there are still many out there in similar difficult situations. I pray this attention leads them to the help they need rather than encourage them to follow her lead.
